Saturday
Was at our new house on Sat to receive the goods and saw the workers painting. Meanwhile, we had our screws for the bolts of our gate changed as advised by an uncle who was doing it for the households there. He mentioned that 2 houses at Blk 307 were broken into whereby the burglar removed the whole piece of iron gate just by simply removing the bolts at the nine connectors of the gates and easily knock off the main door.
One screw inside a bolt took less than 3 secs (using a hammer and screw) to remove and in such a new and sparsely occupied neighbourhood, no one would suspect anything (the hammer noise). Its really scary as we listened and saw him demonstrated. Quite surprised that the government actually overlooked such details when making gates. After we spent about $155 for 9 screws in the bolts, we were advised to use good locks. Naturally after securing the gates, we need a good lock so it would not be cut off so easily.
Monday
The lightings have finally started installation yesterday while we took leave to supervise. Pris told us to be there at 9am and those people only slowly came by 10am. Wasted my beauty sleep... We also had the water heaters, toilet bowl (for master bedroom toilet) and doorbell installed and left after meeting up with the window grills guy.
We were then off to Compass Point to check out on the water fountain but found none to our liking. Will probably try to find one by end of June to save on 2% GST if possible.
Took a train down to Hougang and went to two shops doing curtains. Looks like we will not be able to start until the house reno is completed thus will have to check back again which shop we will buy from, to get them to do measurements. These two shops however got different ways of doing. One is to choose the cloth and design 1st b4 they will go and do measurements whereby the other one is opposite way. The 2nd one also has the flexibility to just sell and install the poles, without buying the cloth from them (which is the bulk cost).
